Norden opened in 1995, is the northern terminus for the Swanage Railway, Dorset's Premier Steam Railway,and has a park and ride car park for approx 350 cars next to the station. 

It is also home to the Purbeck Mineral Mining Museum.  The aim of the museum is to create a Ball clay museum, showing how ball clay was mined in the Purbecks.

The station  is situated about  one mile before Corfe Castle on the A351 coming from Wareham.
